After weeks of a strong earthquake swarm, volcanic eruption southwest of Reykjanes Penisula started yesterday evening. Miles away, people could see red glowing sky while the volcano spew molten lava into the skies.  This eruption is being called Geldingadalsgos, after Geldingardalur, the valley where the eruption is taking place. The latest reports state that the fissure is now 700-meter long, located over the magma dyke that had formed. There are two lava streams from the eruption. The larger one flows into Geldingadalur valley, the other one flows toward Nátthagi or Nátthagakriki.
