Iceland’s first shipment of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine landed at Keflavík International Airport this morning, mbl.is and Iceland monitor reports. Iceland received 10,000 doses of the vaccine today, sufficient for 5,000 people.  Distica is in charge of its distribution in Iceland.

The vaccinations in Iceland will begin tomorrow, Tuesday December 29th. The first people to be vaccinated are healthcare workers at Landspítali National University Hospital, as well as residents of nursing homes.

This is the best news of the year.  Hopefully, we all can start safe travel soon.

You are  always welcome to Iceland!
